BRIEF INTRODUCTION - OFFICIAL DAT-MOT RECORDINGS DAT-MOT - LESS SKILL - PROJECT 3 THREE DIFFERENT PROJECTS... same guy, although nowadays he likes to just be known as Dat-Mot and has basically dropped the other 2 project names which were very popular on old sites like mp3.com (over 60,000 downloads) and the like. Dat-Mot has solely produced over 300 songs in almost every sub-genre of electronic music (from 1987-present) including: Acid, Ambient, Breakbeat, Down Tempo, Drum & Bass, EBM, Electro, Electronica, Experimental, House, Industrial, Noise, Techno, Trance, & Trip-Hop However, this is just a stream-lined version of what Official Dat-Mot Recording music is about, showcasing the most recent works. Rather than trying to "catagorize" the music, and get too much into lengthy descriptions, Dat-Mot believes it best to let the music speak for itself. Because lets get to the point... With so many DJs/Producers currently out there, you are either gonna like what they are doing or not! SIMPLE. On this page you will find the last four albums produced by Dat-Mot with a few MP3 samples. Underneath that, you will find a short description of some of the older Official Dat-Mot Recording projects before 2001. As always, feel free to CONTACT Dat-Mot directly, to give him praise/criticism or whatever. |

TRANSITIONS (Released Sept. 2003)
$10.00 USD
TRANSITIONS was recorded October 2002 through September 2003 in various stages and was mostly produced and mixed down with the aid of computer software and equipment. All production, editing, recording, mixing, burning and CD artwork for this red book standard CD was performed and copyright protected by Dat-Mot (2003). Transitions is truly a quality DIY independent effort that is only available to the public through internet sales directly from the artist.
TRANSITIONS is a hard album to classify. However, it is a DJ style mixed CD with over an hour of music containing minimalistic electronic music that is a hybrid mix of sub-genres including: Ambient, Electro, Trip-Hop, and Breakbeat along with a few progressive, dark, industrial, trance, and house elements. For a more sonic description, you should check out the samples in the MP3 store and decide for yourself.
TRANSITIONS is much different than other mixed records currently on the market because all the songs are created by only one artist and cover a wide variety of genres. Songs have more of an artistic form and flow from one another (thus the album title) that makes it so unique, holding true to DJ Dat-Mot's mixing style. Making a non-stop mix of his own music is something that Dat-Mot has wanted to do for some time. It only seemed a natural project to take on, being a local DJ along with many friends suggestions over the years.

OLDER PROJECTS AND ALBUMS
LESS SKILL was a Dat-Mot side project created in 1998. The motivation for this project came from the ever-expanding internet, and other computer technologies. LESS SKILL music is mostly computer generated and sample based, using a wide varitey of different software programs and some outboard equipment. Quite a few remixes have been under this and the Dat-Mot names. For a list of remixes check out the FEATURED page.
NEW RE-RELEASES!!!Two LESS SKILL albums originally released early and late 2000 are now available again!
TOXIC HEAVY BEATS, & THE FULL ENCHILADA.Both CDs can be purchased at CAFEPRESS for only $8.00 each!.
PROJECT 3 was another musical effort that started in June 1998 and went on to late 1999. It was another side project (3rd project, hence the name) of Dat-Mot.
Project 3 is electronic music that focuses on the classic Roland TB-303 sound layered on top of some mean beats and samples. It's simplistic sound came from Steinberg's RB-338 Re-Birth program, including 3 original Dat-Mot MODS (complete with original sounds & graphics): "The Green Machine", "The Tweak", and "Aqueous".Not to be confused with Techno so much, this instrumental music is usually more downtempo and has a laid-back trip-hop/breakbeat feel which doesn't contain as many "four on the floor" beats as one might think. PROJECT 3 albums put out were: VOLUME PAST TEN and TWEAKED.
I think it would be safe to say that the first time Dat-Mot "played" with music was by "cutting up" songs and dialog by using the infamous old school machanical pause buttons readily available on many cassette tape decks of that era (1984-85). Soon after that, he messed around with mixing sounds from tape decks, walkman's, and turntables by pushing in the seperate source buttons on his parents old stereo. He later (1987) progressed into making his own original music with electronic instruments (mostly keyboards, drum machines and samples) and soon came up with his alias name: Dat-Mot. The Official Dat-Mot Recordings was born sometime in 1994 when the newer recordings were put into "album" format.
Some of the more memorable EARLY Industrial/Hip-Hop recordings from 1994-1997 can be found on Dat-Mot's album: REVISITED.
